WATER AND SEWERAGE
WIN RY RIG MAJORITY.
MESSRS. LEE, CARR AND EPPS
ELECTED BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS.
The municipal election passed off
quietly Tuesday, albeit intense in
terest was felt in the out-eome.
A mass meeting was held in the
court house Tuesday night, at which
* was present Mr J Newton Johnson of
Florence, the civil engineer employed
by the town council to make the
plans and estimate the cost of the
sewerage and waterworks systems.
The large crowd present paid close
heed to Mr Johnson's lucid explanations,
and many questions were
fired at him. Throughout the proceedings
he calmly met each objection
offered and when the meeting adjourned
at a late hour, it was evident
that the overwhelming sentiment
was in favor of the proposed
bond issues.
There were three sets of managers
in the court house Tuesday
morning and tickets were provided,
first, for voting for the town officers
nominated in the recent primary;
second.for voting"For"or" Against"
the issuing of bonds for a sewerage
system to cost $14,000; third, for
voting "For" or "Against" the issuing
of bonds for a waterworks
system to cost $28,000; fourth, for
voting for three commissioners of
sewerage and waterworks.
When the votes were tabulated
the respective managers announced

Eighty votes were cast for the

election to be "For Sewerage," "Fcr E
Waterworks" and Messrs Lee, Carr
and Epps elected as waterworks and
sewerage commissioners.
