Cut Out "Pin Hookers" and Get
^ Higher Prices tor Tobacco.

On account of unfavorable sea-!
sons there is a very short crop of to-1
bacco in this State and prices rule
much higher than for some years,
as has been indicated by the primings
that have so far been sold on
the warehouse floors.
f These lines are especially penned :
for the planters who have been in I
the habit of selling their crops at 1
their barns to country buyers and by ('
so doing have not realized what they (i
would have, had they placed their
tobaccos on the warehouse floors and ! i
given all buyers a showing, and have '1
let their tobaccos go to the highest i
, bidder, if the prices were satisfac- <
tory. Every planter has the right, <
if he offers his tobaccos on the floor,
to take same in if the prices do not 1
please him, then why will they continue
to sell at barns? We do not j
say they have not the right to sell j 1
wherever they please,but if they will i
stop to think that the country buyer
can pay for transportation, ware- i
house charges and make a profit on
what they pay him, they must, as a
matter of course, buy the tobacco
cheaper at the barns than they can 1
were the planter to place same on
the warehouse floor and let the
many buyers have an opportunity to i
bid on same.
More buyers are on the South '
Carina markets than have been
t?*-re before in years. Such being <
the case, and all having large orders <
to buy, why not cut out selling at ;
the barns and offer your tobaccos on 1
warehouse floors? Those that have in !
the past sold their tobaccos at their '
barns will realize that they have 1
been badly burnt by so doing and i
will not do so again.
Don't be hood-winked by country
buyers who, after' looking at your
tobaccos and finding out you will ,
not sell at your barns, offer you
prices that they know are above its
value, but do so simply to make you
dissatisfied when you offer the tobaccos
at the markets.
Of all years this is the year to
stop selling at your barns. Sell your
tobaccos on the warehouse floors on
any market in the State, and you
will get the best prices you ha\e in

I have received notice of farmers
re-organizing at different places.
Friends, it is time to do something.
We have let some one else do our
thinking years too long now.
I received a letter from a tobacco
warehouse a few days ago that read
something like this: "Hring your tobacco
to warehouse; we will take
care of you. We don't belong to the
Trust.butwe are not buying tobacco
in the country this year, etc."
We don't tnink it is best, friends;
there is where our trouble has always
been. We have let the other
man do the thinking, and we have
done the work. What should we
care about what' they thought?
Whom does the tobacco and cotton
belong to? 1 would say to the Trust:
"The farmer makes it, but the Trust
says where he shall sell it." Is that
business? It reminds me of the blind
man walking about holding out his
hands, not saying what must be put
into them.but will be thankful for the
little that may fall into his hand.
The tobacco warehouses are looking
to the interest of the farmer?what
do they care for the farmer any further
than that the dollar go to them?

country and buy tobacco as anything

you carry your tobacco to the waiehouse
you can hear them say: "We
have pot him now; he will take what
we give him." 1 have sold my tobacco
at the warehouse and 1 have
sold at home and 1 always pot more
more at home.

the subject. I believe in free trade
