Dear Sir:? Your favor of July 20 has not been answered sooner because of my absence with Rivers and Harbors Committee. I thank you very much for your letter and also marked copy of The Record. If you can get those people who are complaining about their mail facilities to let me know what they want, their request shall be granted, if reasonable. Again thanking you, I am. Very truly, J J E Ellerbe. We would suggest that the people of the communities that need better service take the matter up with Congressman Ellerbe at once, mention ing this letter. ii-- j BENSON BREEZES. A Revival Meeting?Farmers' In stltnte August 23-PersonaI. Benson, August 7:?The protract ed services at Cedar Swamp churcl have been well attended; in fact there was not sufficient seating ca j pacity to accommodate all th( crowds. Some sat around the pulpil and others took seats in the windows They were orderly and attentive am seemed to be deeply interested in th< i sacred message looking to the salva tion of men. that Rev C C Derriclof Lake City brought for them. H< always announced his subject for th< following meeting and his congrega tion was eager to hear his discourse upon the familiar passages taken fron the Bible to be used as the text. Ir dealing with these subjects the} were discussed in language the mosl happy and expressive, conveying in struction both in divine and human things, which was re-inforced by arguments strong and conclusive and illustrated by examples natural and striking. Rev Mr Derrick left for his home Saturday. Rev J R Sojourner, pastor of this church, conducted services Saturday and Sunday. The house was thronged with people and, notwithstanding the heat, they listened attentively to his earnest and forceful sermons. At this writing-services are announced for Monday night and will probably continue for several days. A Farmers' Institute will be held at Cedar Swamp Graded school building, August 23, beginning at 10:30 a- m. There will also be a session in the afternoon. While this is not a picnic.it is suggested that it would be well to carry dinner, as this will be an all day occasion to learn something that will be worth every farmer's presence. The instruction on improved agriculture will be imparted by Prof Barrow of Clemson College and this will be an opportunity afforded the planters that rarely occurs so far from the railroad in the rural districts. Among the friends visiting here this week the following were noted: Mr Kdwin Epps, Miss Eleanor and Mr T Olin Epps of Kingstree; Misses Cora Johnson, Pat Hanna, Madaline Sauls, Messrs Dock and Simpson nocLrinc nf tfUUUSH'il aim A?lliitu viaon>ii4w v* ^%?x.vw, Messrs Willie Hammett and G E Rembert of Bishopville; Miss Isla Smith of Bloomingvale.
