Being the first good rain we have had for very nearly three months,of course it was badly needed. Crops are bound to come now. Last Saturday was a great day for the employees of the Georgetown & Western railroad?pay day. " Miss Minnie Bryan visited friends at Georgetown, Andrews and Rosemary last week. Among the Masons from here who attended the funeral of Mr John! Pipkin at Bloomingvale last Sunday were Messrs W T Rowell, W J Flowers and others. Dr L W Moore and Mr D Z Rowell spent Sunday with the lat ter's parents, Mr and Mrs E K Row-1 ell near Taft. Rev Mr Langston filled his appoint- 1 ment here last Sunday. He preached two sermons?morning and afternoon. Mr Sam Norton, who has just i been graduated at the school for the ' blind at Cedar Springs, Spartanburg 1 county, has returned home. Mr Frank L Richardson has been promoted from clerk to general manager of the Blakeley-McCullough corporation's Taft store since the death of Mr N L Newton, who held the position for two years. Mr \V D Bryan left today for Hendersonville. North Carolina, where he has built a summer home. He will be accompanied by Mrs N W Cooke, Mrs Mariah Salters and Miss Lucile Bryan. "YV D, Jr." and Mrs Bryan will join them in Columbia, where they have been spending some time with Mrs Bryan's daughter. Mrs Francis Cantley is spending this week at Andrews with relatives.
