was saddened to hear of the j
sudden death of Mr John Register of
Greelyville. One of the best men of
the county has been cut down and i
his place will be hard to fill.
Your scribe spent last Saturday at.
the county seat, attending the meet-'
ing of the county board of assess- J
ors. Had to wait nearly half the j
night at Lanes to make connection j
with a late train on the G & W road.
Farmers are, much delighted be-;
cause of the refreshing rains that i
fell last Saturday night and Sunday, i
this being more rain than we had
had before since the beginning of I
the new year.
Farmers in this community are
using twice as much commercial fertilizer
this year as was used last ,
year. 1 hope it is an indication of
better and more intelligent farming ,
methods. I'
We are informed that little Joseph ,
Hutson. the only son of the late J H
Hutson, is suffering a severe at- taek
of pneumonia; also the infant ,
child of Mr and Mrs? Smith, of this
place, is very ill with cholera infantum.
The families of these sick chil- ?
flren have the sincere sympathy of

Doited Confederate Veterans, Little
Rock, Ark, May 15-18,1911.
For this occasion the Atlantic
Oast Line railroad has authorized
special low rates May 13, 14 and 15;
limited until May 23. Ticket can be
deposited at Little Rock, and upon
payment of a fee of fifty cents, at
time of - deposit, limit of ticket can
