DEATH MR. W. M. D. McGEE.
Was a Well Known and Popular
Citizen of Seranton.
Scranton, December 16:?,,Dr" W
xM D McGee died last night at his
residence, about two miles from
town,after an illness which extended
over a period of several days.
Mr McGee, better known as "Dr
McGee," or the veterinary surgeon,
was one of the best known and most
popular men in Williamsburg county.
He served on the Scranton police
force from time to time for the past
twenty-five years and was a brave
and efficient officer. He owned his
farm, near town, and was regarded !
as one o4 the leading farmers of his '
community. As a veterinary surgeon
his practiW was unlimited, not only
in his own 5^te but frequently he
j w
j had calls to adjoining States, and his
record is one of which his many
friends may well be proud.
Dr McGee was 57 years old. He
leaves a widow, Mrs W M D McGee,
and seven small children and his father,Mr
G G McGee,who is nearly 90
years old, all of whom were thoroughly
devoted to him.
He was always active in fraternal
I circles of the town, being an enthusiastic
Knight of Pythias, a member
of Scranton lodge, No 114. The funeral
services were held this afternoon
at 3 o'clock, conducted by his
pastor, Rev W P Gause, at the Matthews
burying ground, after which
the local lodge of Knights of Pythias
took charge of the body.

many pretty compliments that we
feel amply compensated for the extra
effort and expense it cost. It
was hurriedly gotten up to begin
with, then the lithographed covers )
were delayed on the way, so that we j
were kept guessing whether theyj
were coming at all. It is truly grat- j
ifying that the result of our labors
has pleased so many of our readers.
It's a long time to be planning ahead,
but next Christmas, should the paper
remain under our management,
we will start in time and^add many
interesting features that this year
we were afraid to undertake. The
best is none too good for our readers
and we mean to give it to them
just as long as the business men of
Kingstree and other parts of the
county continue their liberal patronage
of our advertising columns.
