BREEZY NEWS BUDGET FROM BENSON. | A FALLING OUT-SOCIAL FUNCTION-VISITORS BACK AND | FORTH?PALPABLE HIT. Vinson, December 13:? Misses Muttie and Nita Hovkin of Dalzel, Sumter county, are visiting at Mr; ami Mr T J Phillips', where an in-1 formal reception was given in their honor on last Friday evening, the, Otn inst. The hour was pleasantly whiled away tripping the light fantastic to the harmonious strains of | the violin and guitar; meantime j se me who did not dance enjoyed the i owning in social chats hel'ore the \ spacious fire-nlace in the dining-h.'.l'.J Mr and Mrs fc> E Clarkson of Kings tree were visitors at Mr G 0; ie Epps' home last Sunday. Mr C M Hinds, the popular man at the Williamsburg Livestock business place in Kingstree, attended services at the Cedar Grove Baptist church Sunday afternoon. While Mr Henry Phillips and Miss Mattie Boykin were driving a span of match horses one afternoon last week the breast strap became unfastened. causing the buggy pole to dr ?p to the ground, which frightened the horses and they became unmanageable. Mr Phillips was jerked ??wr the dash-board to the ground, and the young lady tumbled into a near-by ditch. Fortunately neither received any serious hurt from their misadventure. Misses Courtenay Adkinson. Annie Davis, Louise McGill; Messrs'John Red and Scott McGill were visitors at the ever hospitable home of Mr and Mrs H Foxworth, near Cades, last Saturday. Mr G Ollie Epps, one of our hustling young farmers, attended the Corn exposition at Columbia last week, and he gives on int?resting account of exhibits anu of the pleasure and benefit derived from the trip. The hot supper last Thursday at tlie home of Mr R S Tisdale, given f >.- the l>enefit of Central Presbytei: in church, was quite a success. This section of the county has been having on several occasions hot suppers, festivals, ice-cream festivals and entertainments by impersonators and lecturers, all of which have been vi .! attended and financially and so-i ci'ti y successful to a marked degree, j V< Ithout exception each one has been j conspicuously advertised in the col- j v as of The (ountv Record. Wej v. if the editor or any of his cc- j v. ..-iters in the office have ever relished -i piece or parcel of the "nicclv stv.tfed gobblers" or "elegantly barb "ued porkers'* or "snow-white J caws" that play such prominent! parts in these delightful affairs.! Once upon a time even the an-i n uncement of a wedding or mar- { i v.re reception was accompanied by | a cake to the editor. We believe! I that palatable evidences, with coir.-, piinientary remarks, or labor's fee, which is justly due those who use j their energy and means for the ben-! oht of any cause, would always be | a?. predated. WESi Help Yourself by Helping Us. We hope the friends of The Reco?i, when they come to town to do their trading.will patronize the busir. ss houses that advertise in this patter. Remember that without these i.v.-o! hankers and other r -nriai luvtvimuw, _ enterprising business men, the price j <?f subscription would be at least $3 j a year for such a pai>er as The Rec-! .mi. You'll find, as a rule, that the I ,?n who advertise are wide-awake a .don the alert and can give you j 1 tier bargains than those who do1 r? >t advertise. This applies not only t . Xingstree, but many live and upt >-date business men of Lake City,: S -ranton and Greelyville recognize tne pulling power of an ad in The Record. tf j - ! OW THE ADVERTISER HELPS Without Him This Paper Woul Cost You $3.00 a Year. Newspaper publishing is the on business of all that has never gotte into a trust or combine with the ir tent of freezing out the other fe] lows in the same business. Bu there is one combination to whic they all bow ami pay the most rc l>ectful homage? it is the grea American Advertiser. He is th man behind them all. and the powe that moves them. We bow to him. as well as do ou neighbors. Without the advertisin patronage this paper would costvo at its present standard of qualit ? * Dtr f Un Oirl f ill lfcU>L !>*? jrci jvai . u_> uic aiu *. tho advertisers we can make it fc $1. So the reader can see the sa\ ing to himself at a glance. But th advertiser does not give this patror age from sympathy or just to se his name in print. It is because i pays him. If advertising did nc return dividends we, nor any othe paper, would have an advertisemen within three months. Another thing, the advertise goods are invariably sold at bette prices than the non-advertised. Th man who advertises does not pa the cost, the buyer does not pay it for the goods are cheaper time afte time. Who does pay, then? Wh; it is the man who does not adveitise A few merchants in every towi don't believe in printer's ink. The; are the men who pay for the ads o those you see herein. Strange, yoi may say, but figure it out any othe way and we'll swallow what is sai< ahnvp Then, dear readers.it behooves yoi to patronize the men who patroniz you. And the advertiser patronize and gives you better goods tha the non-advertiser. Remember th advertised -stores when you com here to trade. Remember ther everywhere. They are the place to get in touch with for bette goods at lower prices. And the ac vertised store never has old good: They won't stay on the shelves whe printer's ink gets mixed up an talks about them.?T> raw-he ille Join iial. CONFERENCE ASSIGNMENTS.
