Lake City. December 6:?The general Thanksgiving day was on Thursday. The special THANSGIV-1 INu DAYS (Mr Printer, put these tw words in "caps'' and underscore them, also) of the writer came on Friday and Saturday following. Friday may be the unlucky day for some folks, but not for "yours truly." On that day our good friend Mr J W Lewis, blessed us with a fine 'possum. As he blessed us,; may he likewise reeeive especial fav >r. Then on Saturday Mr D M j Epps filled our cup to overflowing with another 'possum. Sunday, November 27th, the last valued majes-, tv. being already dressed whenfpresented, presided over the dinner 1 fable, over which we .lingered and i lingered some more. Mr Benjamin Tipjoett^died Friday night at the private sanitariu^i of ' Drs Rollins and Woods, where he a was operated upon some days ago. t He was a man well' advanced in " veers and suffered from a complication of troubles which were beyond v the skill of earthly physicians. He . ha i been in this section several years t yet nobody seems to know much 1 about him. Tin* some- j body does not know much about J violins, but has heard or read that an old violin is a very valuable j thing, and because grandfather hap- 1 pened to leave a violin to assume j duties upon the harp somebody im- j mediately believes that grandfa- i ther's violin is a treasure. As a | matter of fact, ninety-nine times j out of a hundred grandfather in- ! vested in a ten dollar fiddle and i played "Suwanee River" and "An- ! nie Laurie." , 1 When he bought it the violin was worth $10, but since then it has been denreciatinsr in value at the rate of about 10 cents a year. Any one having a violin with the abel of a comparatively unknown naker is likely to be the owner of . more valuable instrument than he person whose fiddle is marked Antonius Stradivarius" There is only one way to find out | rhether or not a violin is living up j1 o its name, and that is to get the udgmcnt of a good dealer. If lie { ells you that your violin is no good, j ut still oirers to buy it, you may j >e quite certain that you have a :ood fiddle. But don't sell it. Take t to some other authority and see rhat he says, but don't make a bargain.
