He is also a veteran pa tron of The Record,having taken th< paper since the first issue in 1885 Although now 70 years old, he say: he feels lost if he misses a single copy of the paper. The revival services in the Metho dist church which began Sunday are continued daily. Two services an held, at 4:30 p. m. and 7:30 p. m., respectively. The sermons of Mi Comann are plain and virile and n< one can hear him without receiving benefit. It is to be hoped that the spirit of his teachings will linger here long after his departure in the Hesh. Mayor L W Gilland and Mrs Gil land have returned from their trij across the ocean,having spent nearlj two months in Denmark. Mr Gilland's health, for the benefit ol which the trip was made,seems to bi much improved, therefore his man} friends are doubly glad to welcome him home again. Being one of the few resident5 of Kingstree who have enjoyed the luxury of a tour abroad Mr Gilland has promised to furnish us for publication a sketch describ ing the incidents of the voyage anc giving our i -aders the benefit of his observation of the country visitec and the manners and customs of its people. Tne second annual State Conference of Charities and Correction will be held at Florence, S C, December 8-9 next. The first session held at Columbia a year ago was highly interesting and brought together for conference and discussion the representative philanthropic workers of our State. It is hoped that all persons interested in dependent children, in the relief of suffering or correction of wrong-doing, will realize that they are invited to attend the approachj ing conference. A programme is now being prepared by the executive committee and will be announced in due season. A T Jamison, President.
