the culmination of an old feud. Immediately
after the tragedy Pendergrass
disappeared and had not been
seen or heard of until this message
came. Sheritr Graham immediately
Et to Whiteville and brought the

to await trial. Pendergrass
that he ran away because he

i wniiAKJCRiiDC WHEAT.
A Crop That Promises to Become
/ Popular and Profitable.
To our kind and thoughtful friend
Mr Charlie McElveen, of Bethel, we
are are indebted for an addition to
our bill-of-fare that is as acceptable
as it is a rarity?biscuits and battercakes
made of home-grown, homeground
wheat. The progressive
farmers of that favored section
planted wheat somewhat extensively
this year and from what we can
learn they have demonstrated the
f fact that we don't need to import
flour from the West or East any
more; certainly the quality and flavor
of the sample sent us would
indicate that the home-made product
is infinitely superior to the imported
article and then, too, you know that
you are eating bread made from real
flour, pure, sweet and wholesome,
and not a composite mess of chalk
other hurtful intrredients put in
to make it look pretty.
A bolting; mill plant has been erect*
ed at Shiloh, just over the line in
I I Clarendon, and the wheat sent there
to be put through the bolting process
comes out j.*s fine and white as any
one would care to see.
' The home-made wheat flour is all
right and the by-products are also
very palatable and wholesome. We
truly hope that the experiment in
. ..whe^tjgrowing in Williamsburg will
O" ^ictinr?tlv silPPPSsful that it I
J/IVfV. OV Viiwv.i.v VV ? -will
become as common a crop as
corn or oats.
The farmers who are pioneers in
this industry are to be commended
fofriheir enterprise and public spirit.
Milton pot through on 8,000 words,
and the ordinary educated man finds
from 4,000 to 5,000 enough for all
purposes.

Cotton Growers, Attention.
Editor County Record:?
It having been suggested by a
writer in last week's Record that a
meeting be called in the county for
the purpose of discussing the bagging
question, I take the liberty to :
call such a meeting on the first
Monday in next month,September 5, i
in Kingstree at 12 o'clock M, and I '
hope that the cotton growers of the
c runty wiil turn out in mass at this
meeting. Respectfully,
J D Daniel.

Don't Break Down.
Severe strains on the vital organs,
like strains on machinery, cause
break-downs. You can't over-tax
stomach, liver, kidneys, bowels or]
nerves without serious danger to
yourself. If you are weak or rundown,
or under strain of any kind,
takelElectric Bitters, the matchless,
tonic medicine. Mrs J E Van de
Sande of Kirkland, 111, writes: "That
I did not break down, while enduring
a most severe strain, for three
months,is due wholly to Electric Bitters."
Use them and enjoy health
and strength. Satisfaction positively
guaranteed. 50c at M L Allen's.
