Papa's Offer Came After Ge?rge Hal
Settled Matters Himself.
A Philadelphia small boy bad some
tiling to say to his father at tbe dinner
table tbe otber night.
' Papa." be said. "Johnnie burton is
foln' to have a party next week, an'

"A present! What's that forF
"It's for Johnny's birthday. All tbe
kids take presents."
Things hadn't gone just right during
tbe day with the bey's father. He
was not In an agreeable humor.
"That's all nonsense!" be declared.
"Every day or two it's a present here
or a present there. If you can't go to
a party without taking a present you
might as well stay home."
Tbe boy's lip trembled, but he made ;
no reply.
Tbe next day tbe father regretted
his hasty words and that night turned
to the boy.
"George." be said, "there are a couple
of new books In my overcoat pock- j
et You can take them to your friend
Johnny's party."
"It's too late." said George gloomily.
"I licked him today so be wouldn't
invite me."

the crowd rasped slowly In with the
inquiry, obviously the result of prolonged
rumination, "Wha' made a
mess of Adam?"

Campaign promises are easily
made. My purpose is, if elected, to
give the people a plain, honest and
business like administration. Of
course I shall advocate good roads,
good schools and good government,
my attitude as to the same being
well known to the public for many
years.
I consistently advocated prohibition
and was among the first to give
money and lend influence to push
the movement more than twenty
years ago.
As a business man my chief aim,
if elected, will be to conduct a State
government along business lines.
