DROWNED IN LYNCH'S RIVER.
Sad Accident Whereby Young
Lad Lost His Life.
I
Scranton, July 16:?Frank Kennedy,
son fif Mr G \V Kennedy, was
drowned in Lynch's river near Bass's
bridge yesterday while in bathing
with several other boys. Frank could
^ not swim, so \\a> using a boat to
cross tine deep piaces. Falling from (
the boat he was earned down so i
rapidly that the other boys were unable
to save him. There was some
difficulty in finding the body, which
had floated a considerable distance
- down the stream.
AN OLD STORY.
Common Fate of New Paper
Started to Break Down Old One.
^ The Colleton News has suspended, i
the former editor and manager, J E
Moore, having sold his interest to,
Claude A Graves, now connected!
I
with the Press and Standard. The;
death of the News is no surprise to !
us. as we predicted that it would
fail, for the reason that it was established
as a political paper, the idea
of its promoters being to revenge
themselves on Editor Smoak, of the
News and Standard. Of course we
regret 'f any one lost money, but
the fate of the News will do as a peg
to hang a few remarks on as to the
establishing of newspapers. Those
politicians who want to start news-;
papers because they cannot controlj
those already printed should re- i
member that newspaper publishingj
is a business enterprise just as any- j
thing else, and there is no use to j
attempt to kill out an established j
paper. You will not succeed in the
first place, and then the principle is
wrong. When you start to tear
down one enterprise to build up another,
you are likely to fail, and this
has been abundantly demonstrated
in the business of newspaper publishing.?Bamberg
