DECLARED NULL AND VOID.

Stock Law Election Upset on
Ground of Irregularities.
In accordance with their notice of
protest Messrs Hirsch and Hinds, attorneys
for the contestants,appeared
Saturday before the board of canvassers,
and presented various
grounds for nullifying the election
held on July 7 on the question of repealing
the stock law exemption act
affecting certain territory, alleging
that the said election was not ordered
within the time authorized by
the act; that the managers were not
properly sworn and voters were not
required to show registration certi
ficates nor tax receipts. The contestees
were represented by LeRoy
Lee, Esq.
After hearing the arguments on
I both sides the board of canvassers
declared the election null and void
by reason of the irregularities alleged.
On the face of the returns the
result was.as stated last week, 29 to
19 against the repeal of the exemption
act. The practical effect of the
board's action in declaring the election
void is to leave matters in statu
quo, or as thev were before.
