The Columbia Record is arranging
a g(HHl roads campaign
in conjunction with the county!
papers of the State, to l>e con- j

and August. To aid in the work
the United States Department of,
Agriculture has given the services'
of Mr I)r I) H Winslow, super-j
intendent of road construction. I

who will accompany The Record's
party and give the people of this
State the benefit of bis knowledge
and experience in road-building.
The plan is to hold a meeting j

fixed for the Kingstree meeting is
Thursday, July 28, at 12 o'clock,
Jioon.
Now the committee of arrangements
wants to kiiow, first, whether
the date suggested will ?uit the people
of this county, and second,
what effort, if any, will l>e made
io secure a good attendance here.
The County Record to willing to
lend any effort possible toward
making this meeting a profitable
one, but to insure its success we
nm?t have the co-operation of our
county and town officials and all
other citizens who want to see a
better highway system than at
present exists. Then, we must
have the assurance that the people
of the county are sufficiently
interested in the subject of roadbuilding
to take a day off and
listen to speakers who have made
the subject a life-study,
What say you, Mr Road Engineer
and all the candidates for this
position, is it worth your attention
to help us get up a goodroads
rally here on the 2Sth of
July? R. S. V. P.
Detroit has a physician named

Some of the Congressmen who
hurried home to look after their
political fences when they arrived
probably found that a cyclone

Editor Stokes is giving his !
readers some convincing argument j
in favor of State-wide prohibition. ]
From an economic standpoint, as '
well as on moral grounds, it
seems l>est that the six counties

lie put under the general law.
