KINGSTREE DIST. CONFERENCE

Something about the Meeting.
The Kingstree District conference
of the M E church, South, will be
held at McClellanville May 26-29.
The opening sermon will be preached
this evening by Rev W A Fairy. The
district includes twenty-one pastoral
charges and is composed of all the
preachers in the district and of representative
laymen from each pastoral
charge, The presiding elder
presides.
\The conference inquires particularly
into the condition of the several
charges as to their spiritual
state; as to missions; as to the Woman's
Foreign Missionary society and
the Woman's Home Mission society;
as to Sunday-schools; as to education;
as to Epworth leagues; as to
financial systems, etc. It also licenses
proper persons to preach and j
recommends suitable candidates to j
the annual conference for admission ]
on trial. Besides the regular mem- \
bers of the conference there doubtless
will be present the editor of the ;
Southern Christian Advocate, the!
superintendent of the Epworth or- j
phanage and representatives of j
church schools and colleges throughout
the State.
