Schools Vote Special Tax-How to Secure State Aid for Building. Editor County Record:? A large number of one-school dis0 tricts are being formed in our county, and in all cases a special tax for school support is being voted. These consolidated schools will all need modern school buildings, that will g cost from $1,000 to $2,000 each. I I write to inform those contem-61 j plating building that the last Legislature appropriated $20,000 to encourage the building of good school houses. The terms are similar to the ^ old building act, allowing $1.00 for every $2.00 the patrons raise, the ! total from the State not to exceed * $300. Besides this aid, the county board of education is authorized to . ' set aside an encouragement fund for ' good buildings, the conditions being the same as those for other State , aid. With such opportunities of aid, ^ I sincerely hope that Williamsburg j county will continue to lead in the " prize contest of the School Improve? ment association. Before receiving aid plan of building mnst be approved by the county } and State boards of education.
