THE NEWS AROUND
ABOUT ANDREWS.
^4 NEW COUNTY BOOM ON-COUNTY
OFFICERS COMPLIMENTED -EQUALIZATION
BOARD'S WORK.
Andrews, April 4:?The writer
spent nearly all the past week at the.
county seat as a member of the
county board of equalization. Thej
M' board did some good work and the
c-payers will tind their property
Shoroughly equalized so Jthat eaeh J
jfchdividual will bear his part of ta:Sition.
Each member of the board J
Seemed to have the best interest of
tfiis township at heart. I believe our
competent Auditor. Mr J J B Montgomery,
is better pleased with' the
work of this county board than he,
has been for years. Mr Montgomeryj
has made one of the best Auditors,
Williamsburg county has ever had.
, Let's adhere to the President's ad-!
vice to the Powers of the East by j
keeping our good men in office. We
can't better Mr "J J B" in the coun-1
ty as Auditor. The Treasurer's office
;
^ also is now capably filled.
At West Andrews last Saturday

of listening to some beautiful music
rendered by the newly organized
string band of this town. We are
informed that the ladies of the town
will give a box party in a few days
.to raise money to further aid the
Andrews String band. This newly
organized band deserves great praise
for its eff orts in this matter. They
will play during the season at all
picnics and gatherings of the town.
There will be a mass meeting of
our citizens in a few days to devise
plans to begin the campaign for the
county of Andrews. We expect the
co-operation of Messrs Brown & Co,
Messrs F Rhem & Sons and other i
prominent business men in the pro-1
posed territory. The plan is to cut j
14 miles into Williamsburg county
and 8 miies into Georgetown and a
$eee out of Berkeley. We have the
"irke of $200,000 worth of taxable
I property in the town of Andrews

be found in the county or the lower

house and jail go up in this town
within two years. Mr Editor, if you
will consider our condition you will
give us your efforts in this matter.
We want the assistance of both of
our county papers, The County Record
and the Georgetown Daily Item.
We feel that those two papers wield
a mighty power in each of their
counties.
i Hon K H Kellahan of Kingstree
spent a few pleasant moments with
the writer last Thursday while in

pleased to meet him. It has been
several years since he visited our
town. i
