Modesty vs. Vanity.
A title hen of modest mien,
And not a whit too fat
Just went. without a bit of fuss.
And laid an egg like that:

And when she'd laid a good-sized egg.
Just like a modest bird,
She went and picked her living up.
Without a single word.
Another hen?much larger, too?
Who strutted and looked wise,
Just fussed about before she laid
A dinkv egg this size:
O
And when she'd laid this little egg
She had to have her say.
So she went out and cackled, cackled.
Cackled half the day.?Er.

A Policeman's Testimony.
J N Patersou, night policeman of
Nashua, Iowa, writes: "Last winter
I bad a bad cold on my lungs and
tried at least half a dozen advertised
cough medicines and had
treatment from two physicians
without getting any benefit. A
friend recommended Foley's Honey
and Tar and two-thirds of a bottle
cured me. I consider it the greatest
cough and lung medicine in the
world.'' D C Scott.

are bent low we can at least get ?
some happiness out of life by
trying to love the burden we ^
bear like the little Scotch girl p

a baby in her arms.
' 'Can I help you?" the b

The little girl looked up and
with an expression of passionate
tenderness said:
"He's nae heavy. He's me brother!"
