Mr Broadway I was only about 30 years of age and ! was well and favorably known over : that county. Mr George W Brown, a well known farmer who lives near RockHill, was iustantly killed Friday by being caught in the belting of his cotton ginnery. A serious difficulty occurred Tnpaiijiv near Tradesville, Lan cester county, between Benjamin Hunter and Thomas Davis, the latter of Waxhaw, NC., in which the Noith Carolinian was cut across the throat and face, making an ugly wouud. The trouble war about a mule and occurred at Mr Hunter's home. At the recent term of court in Darlington John Wallace, colored, was sentenced to be hanged on Cctober \ 29 for murder. Ernest Spann, Jr, of Lexington county, has sued the Crosson Drug Co. of Leesville for .$10,000 for the alleged wrong labeling of a bottle of medicine purchased, which caused him to become extremely ill. This case is said to be without precedent in the courts of the State. Joseph Stephens, white, 27 years old, was convicted of murder in Wilmington, N C., last week and sentenced to be electrocuted. James Henry Jacobs was shot in the knee Friday night at Bennettsville by French Revels. Jacobs and several others were visiting at the home of Revels and ice-cream was being served. Mr William Lawrence Graham, a well known citizen ot Williamsburg county and alt'on^K-rate veteran,died Tuesday,October , I at lus home near Single and was buried on Wednesday following at Hethesda church. Mr Graham ; | was 72 years of age and leaves | 1 a wife and two daughters, a sis- ; ter and a brother, his nearest ! surviving relatives. Quiet and unassuming, Mr ; Graham was a type of the class of men that are the back-bone of our country. He was highly respected by the people among whom his three score and two years were lived and his death is deeply mourned by them all. He took an active part in everything that conduced to the upbuilding of his community, whether materially or spiritually.
