Kindly give nie space in your paper to reply to the clipping from the Florence Times published in The Record bat week under the t ! caption, '-Trouble in Scranton," in ! so far as it relates to the automobile i incident and the case in court resuiting therefrom. The article ; from the Florence Times touching j this affair is misleading and 1 de; sire to correct the misstatements j i made and give a true version of the; i occurrence. j On the day referred to I was reI turning home frcm my office in the I town of Scranton, a distance of a I . . quarter of a mile, in my automobile, j which 1 have been using for the! past three years in general practice; and going from office to residence1 i daily. On this particular occasion; II noticed that the horse driven by j # J I : Magistrate Lee-was frightened when the distance intervening was about o..f.la anil J of nrt/>o liWpml I 1 Vl' Jttiuo Ull\* * UV VUVV ?VT tny automobile to low gear, reducing the rat# of speed to not more than two miles an hour. At this time the horse was absolutely i quiet, or I would have come to a j complete stand-still, as I always do jin such circumstance#. As to the j statement in the Florence paper that I thought best to hurry by, it is absolutely false and without foundation in fact, i also emphatically deny the statement that either Mr II V Lee or his conI stable signed or made any motion l stop me, and these facts were DS GA1 t e. I brought out in the preliminary at Lake City and before the grand jury at the last term of court. , Mr H V Lee did pull from his pocket a pistol, tne same being concealed, and fired directly at me lathe machine at a distance of five feet and attempted the second and third time to shooc, but nis pistol failed to fire. Jndge Eaddy's decision in tending up the case against Mr H V Lee to the sessions court was right and proper and from the evidence submitted I fail to see how he could have done otherwise. The foregoing facts are given to keep the record straight. Respectfully yours, VV S Lynch, M D. Scranton, October ti. Dr Gamble s Arm Broken. I)r W G Gamble sustained a serious accident on Wednesday ot last week. While getting into his buggy to make a professional call, his horse made ! a sudflen start and threw him with some force against a post nearby. His right arm struck the post, causing a fracture at the socket and another lower I down. Dr Gamble went to ! Charleston and had the arm I examined under the X-Ray - with the result aboved stated. ! While he is able to be up the ; injury is very painful and he I fears that he may never fully regain the use of his arm. i Few men in town or county ! are more useful than Dr Gamble and his many friends hope soon | to see him fully recovered.
