The foregoing startling and laconic
message, signed P*ary, is the
only available information up to
this time. It was received in New
York at 12:39 p m., today through
tbp P.-wtal TVleeraDh company. It
was bunded in at Indian Harbor,
and sent from tbere by wireless
telegraph to Cape Ray, New Foundland,

Aux Basques by the Newfoundland
goverenmeut land lines, thence

author of scientific works.4
London, September 5:?The

Found No Trace of Cook
St. John's, N F., September 6:?
Commander Robert E Peary, who
announced today that he had discovered
the North Pole on April 6 1
of the present year, found no trace \
of Dr Frederick A Cook of Brooklyn,
who reported to the world five
days ago that be had made the
same discovery in April of the pre- j
ceding year. This news reported |
here tonight through Capt. Robt.
ttArtlpttnf the Roosevelt. Peary's
ship, eu route to Chateau bay, Lab- J
rador.
Capt. Bartlett telegraphed torela-|
tives here that Peary had found
nothing to indicate that Dr. Cook
had reached the pole. While Peary
does not expressly repudiate Dr.!
Cook's contention in so many words,
his statement may have an important
bearing upon determining
the extent of Cook's explorations.
The Roosevelt was in good condi- j
tion and the crew all right, wired j
Capt. Bartlett in addition, and he j
reported that the schooner Jeannie, J
. carrying supplies for the expedition, I
had inet them off the coast of Greenland.
Coming south the Roosevelt
passed Etah and Upernavik, Greenand,
where Dr. Cook had prece edill

, for Chateau bay, Labrador, with

' islands on the northern shore of
! Belle Isle straits and due east of

Many people delude themselves by
saying "It will wear away," when
they notice symptoms of kidney and
bladder trouble. This is a mistake.
Take Foley's Kidney Remedy, and
stop the drain on the vitality. It
cures backache, rheumatism, kidney
and bladder trouble, and makes every
trace of pain, weakness and urinary
trouble disappear.

Notice to Fishermen.
Owing to misinterpretation of1
Fish Law, Sec. 254, I had made
statement that it would be lawful
to tish with nets, traps,
seines, etc, from May 1 to
September 1. But upon investigation
I find that I am in
error and it will be unlawful to
fish as stated above, the date
being November 1 to May 1
instead, and the public is hereby
warned to comply with the
law as amended.

remedies before he was advised by
an old doctor to use a cure much
favored by physicians of several
generations ago?a paste made of
vaseline and precipitated sulphur.
The ointment is made by blending a
! dram of the sulphur with two table1
spoonfuls of vaseline. Divide the
f hair into strands and rub well into
the roots, not getting iuto the long
hair. The ointment should be left
on several days and repeated when
necessary. This treatment is equally
good for a scalp that has grown
dry or filled with an ugly, scaly
scurf.
