Erratum.
A regrettable typographical error
in our supplement this week
makes u? say under the sub-head.
"The Poorest County": "The (level

A lot of prohibition and antiprohibition
argument had to be
omitted this week, as well as
quite a good deal of country correspondence.
We can't devote our:
whole paper to to two subjects [
at the same time and with us,
the new county question is the
paramount issue. We don't think
any one on either side of the
whiskey question can blame us,
for we have given both sides all
the newspaper publicity they have
enjoyed during the campaign.

ledge friends should get together e

in their arguments. One of the
most earnest advocates of the Rut- y
ledge scheme a few days ago ar- j
gued to us in the most convincing t
way (to himself) that when Rose- 2
mary's county seat ambition crystallized
she would take in John- ^
son township and beat Johnson- ^
ville to the county seat by sheer r
voting strength. Now. if we grasp r
the meaning of "A1 D N's" argti
ment, Rosemary would cut Johnson
township out in her ambitious
scheme to keep from being outvoted.
And dou't you think it is
dealing largely in futures, really,
to take so seriously a town that has
not even been incorporated? I

People Resent Being Told How They

Last week a wonderful piece of literature
dropped down upon us, emanating
from the brilliant and omniscient
editor of the Rutledge County
News, telling us how each and
every voter in the proposed area of
Rutledge county will vote on the
new county question on the 17th of
August. I don't profess to know
how mv nearest neighbor will vote on
this question, but after camassiug
Johuston township, I have failed to
find a mau, with one or two exceptions,
that favors the creation cf
Rutledge county. If Mr Starr
misses his prediction of the vote at
the other polls as bad as he does at
Muddy Creek, the baby is already
dead and the vote on the ITth will
only be a burial. We occupy the
same position we did eighteen
months ago?not wishing to check
the advancement of Laie City but
delight in her progress, and inclined ?
to return good for evil, for we feel <
that Lake City has not observed the
golden rule by influencing the? Governor
and Attorney General in closing
the registration books three days
before the time expired and thereby
depriving several good citizens the j i
right of suffrage. "To err is human,
"and after the new county
project is buried on the 17th, we will
only expect Lake City to express repenitence
and ask pardon.
