Fairy Preaches Strong Sermon on Higher Aim of Secret Orders. On last Sunday morning at 11 o'clock in the Methodist church, Rer W A Fairy, the pastor,preached an eloquent sermon to Kingstree lodge, No 91, Knights of Pythias. There weie about 25 Kuights present, who attended iu a body, and the nhur/Mi was nretfp well fillpd with their friends. The seats reserved for the Knights were enclosed with red, yellow and blue streamers, the colors of the lodge,and the pulpit was tastily decorated with ferns. A selected choir furnished some splendid music, which was greatly enjoyed. Mr Fairy took his first lesson from the fourth chapter of Genesis, which is a very familiar passage from the Bible?the story of the killing*of A ^ N*u. The second lesson fron ^chapter? He also gave a brief review of the history of the Knights of Pythias since being organized by Mr Justus H Rathbone of Eagle Harbor, Mich. While the Knights of Pythias is distinctly a social order it has an insurance feature and at the present time carries $90,000,000 for the benefit ot its members, and within the past ten years $10,000,000 has been paid out in death benefits. Kingstree lodge, No 91, is one of the oldest and strongest lodges in this part of the State, and its members have always taken a prominent part in the affairs of the Grand lodge. The present deputy for this district, Mr P H Stoll, is a member here.
