The famous mile of road from j
Home to Union church has been
worked over lately and is now
1 one of the best turnpikes in the
county. This was until recently
the worst piece of road in that
, part of *Villiamsburg.
Mr W S Fitzsimmons of
Charleston, a civil engineer, was
in Kingstree yesterday looking
into the surveying and dredging
of Black river. If this is done it
will not be long before the
"toot-toot" of the steamboat
whistle can be heard in Kingstree.
In referring to the millinery
' openings last week we neglected
to include Mrs J S Eron's
i handsome display. While iMrs
; Eron did not announce a formal
opening she exhibited quite a
handsome line of hats and millinery,
which was much admired
| by all.
In bringing to Kingstree such
a high-priced attraction as the
Quaker quartette, \ne Eyceum
management is taking a risk,but
they believe that tbe people of
1 the town and surrounding country
will by a liberal patronage
' show appreciation of this effort
to give them something of un
usual excellence in musical en
fertainment.

of Lake City for $800. This

par value. The bills of sale
