of 100 names of subscribers entitled
to the paper for 12
months. After a reasonable
time we shall be glad to hear
from any subscriber who fails

The Christmas tree at the
Baptist church on the night of
December 25 was largely attended
and the occasion was a

The earthquake which occurred
in Italy Sunday, followed by
a tidal wave which destroyed
the lives of 100,000 people, adds
another horror to the train of
disasters wrought by this terrible
convulsion of nature. The
tremor of the earthquake was
felt by several persons in town,
so they say.
We hereby ^ivc notice that
after January 1, 1009, all accounts
of a dollar or more for

A preliminary hearing was
held this week before Judge
Wallace in the matter of the
State vs James Singletary et
al, charged with the murder of
Melia Williams, Solicitor Stoll
representing the State and
Messrs Lee & Askins appearing
for the defendants. The defendants
were committed to jail
to await trial at the sessions

court. JJozier singierary, who
it is alleged, confessed to killing
the vroman, will be given a
hearing latert on, we understand.
