the fancy of festive youth turns
to thoughts of Santa Claus.

Mr E J Turner, a popular salesman
at Wright's, was very sick
last week but is better and is
going at his post ot duty.

antlers of a noble buck as a
trophy of a successful hunt down

Miss Allie McCullough, who
is;teaching^the public school at
Blossom in Florence county, was
a welcome visitor at home during
the week-end.
k Hon R H Kellahan, whose
^ name is so inseparably linked
B with the history of our county
Fseat, was in Scranton one day
last week. He was returning
home from a visit to his friend
and colleague in the legislature,
Rev W P Gause. Mr Kellahan,
always alive to business opportunities
and a real factor in the
development of waste places,
made some pertinent observation
as to the vacant lots in
this promising "burg."
R T Grimsley, a popular
young business man of Salem,
was in Scranton Thanksgiving.
Mr C B Butler has accepted a
position as salesman with Mr
Winslow Wright.

to spend the festive holiday
in Scranton?a sensible idea.
Miss Rena Kinard, of the faculty
of Coward's graded school,
delighted her friends here last
week by a brief visit.
Miss Estelle Coward of Hartsville
and Miss Ola Coward of
Lake City spent Thanksgiving
in town with their parents* Mr
and Mrs J M Coward.
Mr J T KimbalJ 01 Conway is
spending some time with Mr and
Mrs P M Lee. Mr Kimball says

ing feature" will be the sumptuous
supper that will be served

An aerial artist in the person
of an ebony-hued son of Ham,
did some clever stunts in the
way of wire walking Monday
afternoon. He teased a few nickels
and dimes out of our local
philanthropists, but not enough
to encourage him to come back
again.
Mr W E Summerford, who has
| been an honored citizen of Scranton
until this day, has sold his
possessions to Mr Ezra W Singletary
and will hereafter move
and hav/ his being in the Rutledge
county capital.
The Holiness preachers have
folded their tents and quietly
j left town. We hope their labors
for good will be more acceptable
in other fields.
Mr Myers Matthews has sold
j his farm near town to tyr Win
Jordan and will move in the near
future to Florence county,where
he has bought a more desirable
plantation.
Miss Addie Cannon, who is unspeakably
popular in Scranton,
deserted her school at Hebron
last week and came home to see
her friends. V

Jones, and others perhaps, are
down in the neck of the lower

The county dispensary board
came to town Monday morning
and checked up the local dispenser.

was content to stay at home and
