Ringling or Barnum & Bailey. In fact, it is not a circus at all; no menagerie or hippodrome; no parade or spectacular pageant; just a tie two-ring show of the type that L used to travel across country before the advent of the iron horse. And even then the two rings were not continuously i )Q occupied during the hour or so 1 that the performance lasted. 1 But there was some good [j trapeze work, a trio of funny i clowns whose quips were rather jc clever, and the slack wire artists were quite above the average. 1 ^ On the whole, the crowd was ; jg well entertained, and that, after J Pjj all, is the chief desideratum, as 1 lg such things go. Mr C C Featherstone, who was in the city yesterday, believes that Laurens will go dry by an overhelming vote. The recent fight to prevent th$ issue going to a vote, h^thinks, is evidence that the dispensary people are afraid and the proceedings were such that many have decided to vote against the county dispensary.
