FIRST LYCEUM ATTRACTION.
lorpbel-Slavenson Co. Gives Creditable
Entertainment.
A large audience filled the
school auditorium Monday evening
when the first of the lyceum
course of five attractions was
presented, the Morphet and
Stevenson Co. The entertainment
consisted of magic and
legerdemain, varied with an
excellent musical programme
rendered by skilled artists on
the various instruments brought
into play. Altogether the Morphet
Stevenson company is one
of the best lyceum attractions
that has ever visited Kingstree
and if Mr Montgomery, the
enterprising manager of the
local lyceum course, is equally
Wlunotfl in Uio Cplort. I
' i\ji luiia it in in', vmvi uviwt- [
ions he has booked the patrons
may look toward to some enter- <
tainment really worth while
during- the winter months.
r The work of Harry Morphet,
ihe magician, was very clever
indeed and thoroughly enjoyed
by every one present. The
'\sbow" held the interested at-j
tention of the audience for two
hours without intermission, |
giving full measure in quantity
as well as quality.
The Morphet-Stevenson Co.
will always tind a warm welcome
in Kingstree.

What He Wanted.
Perhaps some of our readers are
critical enough in the u?e of language
to decide whether the customer
or the salesman was right iu
the following dialogue:
Customer?Show me a small, low
priced shears.
Salesman (facetiously) ? Perhaps
you mean a pair of shears?
Customer (severely)?I mean precisely
what I said.
Salesman (defiantly, opening a
specimen article)?Are there not
two blades here, and don't two make
a pair? *
Customer (triumphantly) ? You
have two legs. Does that make yon
a pair of men?
The shears were done up in profound
silence. _ ..
