SCHOOL DAYS Wl
A ROMAN HOLIDAY.
Picnic Given By Francis Marion Liter
ary Society.
il'navoidsHy omitted last week.)
Rome, September 1:?After a
long spell of quiet and dreamy ease
the Romans rose up and made a
holiday almost equal in grandeur to
the festive occasions often held bv
the ancients of the same name.
What occasioned this grand celebration
was a picnic which was given
by the Francis Marion Literary So- 1
ciety on Wednesday, August 26.
Although the majestic sun did not (
favor us with his august presence, j
and despite the gentle pour of rain, i
quite a large crowd was present. r
The doors of the school buildings ?
were thrown open to the picnickers
and the members of the society,
assisted by several young people of
the community, did all in their pow- 1
er to make the pleasure seekers en- v
joy the day. a
Dinner was served in one of the
buildings and t.ie appetizing repast t
showed to all present that the Ro- C
mans do not neglect the culinary o
art. ii
After dinner all repaired to the o
-society hall, where the meeting was n

been troubled with a cough every
winter and spring. Last winter I
tried many advertised remedies, but
the caugh continued until I bought
a 50c. bottle of Dr King's New Discovery;
before that was half gone,
the cough was all gone. This winter
the same happy result has followed;
a few doses once more banished
the annual cough. I am now
convinced that Dr King's New Discovery
is the best of all cough and
