TRUSTIES OF COUNTY ENTERTAINED BY TEACHER-PUPILS?PRAISE FOR INSTRUCTORS. Wednesday, we were entertained at the "Sun Set" meeting by Mr Mitchell, who made an excellent lecture on "Christan Education." Dr R03* Z Thomas made a very beautiful talk to the teachers on science the same evening". Dr Thomas' words were words of encouragement. Miss Maude Logan spoke to us Thursday on the importance of teaching expression in the rural schools. We feel indebted to Miss Logan for such valuable information. The same evening Mr Mitchell lectured i on "Physical Culture" and j showed the necessity of physical culture to a person's health. We feel very grateful to our : instructors for the benefit and ] ( pleasure we derived from >, the "Sun Set" talks given during! the two weeks course by them. Friday being the last day Miss Nance arranged a most interesting programme.A special meeting of the trustees and ( teachers was requested; invitations having been sent to all the county trustees. The teacher-pupils prepared a surprise for the gmests in the form of a reception. At 11:30 the guests were met at the entrance and refreshed with punch and pleasant words from our most charming and entertaining instructors, Misses Nance and Dominick. Then they were ushered to the auditorium by. the teacher-pupils where there was much in store for them. On entering they found the stage very tastefully decorated with palms and ferns. First on the programme was "America," sung by the teacherpupils; then followed a recitation by Miss Maude Logan, an instrumental solo by Miss Mabel Snider.an address byMrMitchell, a vocal solo by Mrs Louis Gilland; last, but not least, was a most excellent address by Miss Nance, closing the exercises with "Dixie." It is impossible to tell all that ' *' 1 11 i %# _ >T I ^ir Mitcneii ana miss i\ance said to us. They showed where the future men and women depended so much on the present trustees and teachers, and the necessity of the trustees' cooperation with the teacher. Miss Nance also showed them the advantage of consolidating schools and securing better teachers, and making the school a place of comfort and not discomfort, a place of beauty and not a place of ugliness; and thus train the mind, heart, and hands?making the pupil a useful man or woman.
