A recent ruling of the postoffice
department requires publishers
of weekly newspapers to ]
discontinue all subscriptions j
that are one year or more behind.
We are allowed until April
1 to comply with this require- ^
ment, after which time all sub- J
scriptions not paid to April 1
1907 (or beyond that date) will
be cut off. We have no choice !
in'the matter, being compelled '
to conform to the regulations of i
the postofflce department. i
Now, we ask all our subscrib- |
ers who are in arrears and want
the paper continued, to come up
and 'settle their accounts before
April 1, while those delin- ,
quents who do not care to have ]
the paper any more will confer *
a tavor to notify us and at the 1
same time pay what they owe ]
for oast service. We ask that i
prompt attention be given to .

Quite a severe gale blew Sunday
night here, but so far as we
have heard no damage was
done, except some fencing was
blown down. i
Mr and Mrs L W Gilland and 1
daughter, Jane, returned from ;
Charleston last evening-. They ;
were accompanied by little Miss 1
Louise Sherfesee.
The entertainment given at
the Thomas opera house by the
graded school pupils last Thursday
night was a very pleasant
affair and quite a tidy sum
was realized as the proceeds.

Epps, of the Bank of Williams- (
burg, took in the Bankers' asso- ,
elation in Columbia last week. ,
An elaborate and attractive
programme has been arranged
for the entertainment of the
Knights of Pythias next Tuesday.

On account of sickness on our
force we are still short one
printer and of course we cannot
jet up the usual amount of type.
We are trying to get another
printer,but good ones are scarce
ind hard tb get to stick.
We have over $1,000 owing on
subscription,as was disclosed by
3ur recent investigation of our
mailing list. In this department
we have been very lenient
but hereafter whoever reads
this paper must pay for it.
Quite a number of our subscribers
have responded to the
statements recently sent out,but
many others have not. The expense
of sending out these reminders
has been about $15, so
please let us have the amount
iue as soon as possible.

Klngstree Dem. Club Reorganizes.
Ki ngstree Democratic club
met Saturday and reorganized,
being called to order by the vice
president, Mr P H Stoll, in the
ibsence of the president, Dr D
U Scott.
The first business was the
election of officers and the following
were elected without op
pusiuun:

Cutchen, secretary; R J Kirk,
vice-president; J W Coward, J
B Gamble and L P Kinder, registration
committee; C W Wolfe,
member executive committee.
As delegates to the county
convention, which meets Monday,
May 4, the following were

Dn the 11 o'clock train and soon
ifter a merry party boarded the
aunch "Mercedes" at the toot
Dt Main street, and steamed
iway for the picnic ground,
vhich was quickly reached,
rhere the steward of the fishing
dub, Mr D J Epps, took comnand
and soon had his cooks

was served to the picnickxs.

genial steward has a great repitation,
