April 1, while those delinquents
who do not care to have
the paper any more will confer
a favor to notify us and at the
same time pay what they owe

Montgomery, the popular

to see him able to be out again
after his severe attack of grip.
Mr Arthur Benjamin and little
daughter, Amelia, now of New
York city, visited relatives in
town several days last week.
Arthur is an old Kingstree boy
and his visits "home" are always
appreciated by his many
friends.

The contract for erecting- an
iron fence in front of the court
house square has been awarded
to the Kingstree Hardware
Company for $425. The contract
was let to the lowest bidder
and there were several competing
firms.
The next meeting of the County
Teachers' association will be
held at Kingstree in the graded
school building, Saturday,
March 14,at 12 m. ' The feature

The Nelson house, one of the

Fanuary, 1906, and since that
ime has paid $2,400 in divilends
and with $40,000 capital

Mr W P Hawkins has traded
his stable and stock business in
Manning to Mr F C Thomas for
his stable and stock business in
Kingstree. Mr Thomas took
charge of the Manning business
last Monday, and Mr Hawkins
moves this week to Kingstree,
where he was engaged in business
for some time before moving
to Manninsr about six years
ago. Mr Hawkins has proved
himself a good citizen and Manning
regrets giving him up, but
at the same time extends him
best wishes for prosperity in his

out of a county to go to another
it not only must bear its proportion
of the new county debt,
but it must also bear its proportion
of the bonded indebtedness
of the county it left. The townships

Mrs Maggie MeRoy Clwrkson
died last Monday afternoon at 5
o'clock at her home in town. Mrs
Clarkson had been for some time af- ,
dieted with a fatal malady, so that
when the sands of her life ran out
the blow to her family ana mends i (
was not unexpected. Her last illness' ]
extended over a period of several
weeks.
Mr and Mrs Clarkson moved here
from Greelyville several months ago
and have gained mai?y friends,wbose
tender sympathies go ont to the be- i
reared ones.
Mrs Clarkson was only twenty- i
nine years old and left no children. ,
Besides her husband, Mr B K Clarkson,
her immediate family com- 1
prises one brother andfive sisters, one {
of the latter being Mrs G Ollie
Epps of Kingstree.
The funeral service was held
Tuesday at 12 oclook, m, in the '
Methodist church, being conducted
by Rev J E Mahaffey, the pastor,
after which the remains were con- ^
veyed to the Williamsburg cemetery (

Both Cotton Association and Farmers'
Union Represented.
Both the Cotton Growers' association
and the Farmers' Union
held meetings here Monday
in the court house. Quite a
number of representative farmers
attended the meeting and
seemed to take a lively interest
in the proceedings.

State President Smith spoke in

Harris, State president of the
Farmers' Union, addressed the
meeting- in behalf of that organization.
Mr T C Willoughby, district
organizer of the Union, was
present and seemed very much
encouraged at the prospect here

county.
