The total area of Williamsburg aounty, to the best of our information, is about 950 square miles. Take away one-third, as our Lake City friends say they propose to d<v and there would be left 63? miles. The claim is made that the one-third they want to cut off contains $3,000,000 taxable property. Since the auditor's books !' " ihow oaly about | $4,100,000 f? i the entire county, it seems to us I that to take away $3,000,000 of j this amount would make the re-' raaitider fall short of $2,000,000 required to remain in the old louuty. Editor County Record: Some ime ago in one of your editor* ais, discussing tne new county iropaganda, you suggested the ormation of a county out of the ower portion of Williamsburg ind the upper portion of Georgeown. The writer has bad the opportunity oi discussing this ssue "with many men of many nindi" throughtoat this county md have yet to find one who roald not favor such a moveoent, or who does not even reommend the establishing of a ourt house in that section. Inleed, any impartial, fair-minded nan finds little trouble in reading such a conclusion when he s induced to considei the mater. Probably no section of South Carolina needs and deserves nore a court house within its )ounds than does that comprelended between Lynch's river >n the north and Santee on the outh and between lines conlectmg these rivers, and ex- j i 11_i .
