scribers in arrears. There are
now on our books nearly 2,000
subscribers, many of whom
have paid nothing in a year or
longer. We ask all these delinquents
to settle up as soon
as possible. Each account is
made out up to the nearest year
or half year. It may be that
some who get these statements
have already paid; if so just call
our attention to the fact and
we will cheerfully make the
correction. All we want is
what is due us and not a cent
more. But we do want that.
Have you paid for your paper?
If not, why not?
Mr and Mrs P H Stoll are visiting
in Sumter this week.
We need just about $1,000 that
is due us on subscription. Do
you owe us anything?
,Mr H A Meyer and daughter,
Miss Florrie, are visiting friends I
in Charleston this week.
The fox hunters about town
are enjoying fine sport these
cool nights chasing wily lleynard,
A dollar is a small matter to
you,but when 1,000 people owe1
us $1.00 each it makes a big agv^
,cremate ift ft sm-Ji business.
Capt. W R Funk has the contract
for a $3,500 school building
at Scranton and is progressing
nicely with the work.
In stating the amount stolen
from the Kingstree dispensary
last week we got the figures reversed.
Instead of $02.45, as
published, the amount was $42.65.
Corn, peas, poultry, 'possums,
pigs or anything we can
use, will be taken in lieu of sub
scription at market prices.
Now, will you be good and pay
up?
Mayor L W Giliand and Mr W
H Carr have been appointed by
the Board of Trade delegates to
the River, and Harbors Conference
to be held at Georgetown
on November 26.
Our good friend,Mr J D Hinds,
presented the editor with a
whole bushel of fine sweet potatoes,
which came in nicely to
till our empty pantry. Now, if
we just had that possum.
Quite a number of our subscribers
have already paid up
and many in advance. We thank
t hem and assure them that none
of our remarks anent delinquents
apply to them. If the
thousand and one who haven't
paid would follow their example
