Nr. T. A. Blafceley Gone to His Last
Bewarf.
As was announced in The
li'EcoiiDof last week, Mr. Thomas
Alexander Biakeley died on
Tuesday night of last week and
was interred in the Williamsburg'
cemetery at Kingstreeon Thurs
day.
The immediate cause of Mr.
Blakelev's death was congestion
t
of the lungs. He had been un-|
well fo? about two weeks, but
\va,$ able to be about anci aia
/
not think that there was an}'
serious trouble. It was not discovered
until the day of his
death that he was a very ill
man, and then it was too late
to give hjm any relief, notwithstanding
the fact that Drs. Lee
1 and Rich gave all the medical
; aid possible.
Mr. Blakeley was in the prime
of life, being only 38 years old,
and this fact makes his death
^ doubly sad. His wife, who was
Miss Isabella Hinds, daughter
I of Mr (J M Hinds, of this place,
and six small children survive
' him and will forever cherish the
I memory of a kind and devoted
! husband and father.
He was universally popular
and the large crowd who attended
his funeral, not only from
this county but from Georgetown
and elsewhere, bears witness to
this fact.
ilr. Blakeley was preeminently
a remarkable man. He began
business as a merchant 18 years
ago at his present home with no
capital and no experience, but
* by his fine ability he had built
np at the time of his death a
commercial i n fl u e nee, of
wider range, perhaps, than
that of any one man in this
county. He was a great merchant
and never failed in any ot
his enterprises. He was the
- - % it J 1
potential tactor in xoe aeveiupment
of a large territory about
his home, as well as in othe^
places, displaying fine business
indgment and at the same time
Kl . . . , . A ?
M1 tvinning the respect and conn
dence of all who knew him by
his honorable and ttuthful dealings.
Being a Christian gentleman,
he took a lively interest in
aud gave?uijstiiited supportVtp
t everything pertaining to relig*i
ion and education.- He was a
In consistent member of the Meth*
odist church. Mr Blakeley's
w true worth as a man cannot be
portrayed in this short sketch;
if only those wh<J knew him can
x appreciate the loss that this
4 county has sustained by his un>
timely and mncb regretted
* death.

Want More Cotton to Qin.
We continue to do all we say
we are doing, viz, ginning" all
the cotton that is brought us
without any one having to wait
very long. In faci it now looks
that we cannot be crowded any'
day, turning out fhe short staple
in as short time as ten to twelve
minutes. ' ; <
While the price of seed is
somewhat off, yet we are pajr- % yjg
ing more than the present conditions
will warrant for all the
seed accessible, that we might,
control the situation here among
you. A home corporation doing b-d

m P v pfm
To those who do not care to
sell their seed for cash we are
offering a strictly high grade
meal in exchange. Our rate of
exchange at the mill is 1500 lbs.
of meal for one ton of seed. It
is a conceded fact cotton
seed meal is a cheaper and . . \
more effecthe fertilizer than
cotton seed. According to
chemical analysis of each 886
pounds of cotton seed meal
are equivalent to 2000 pound*
of cotton seed, but owing
to the superior mechanical
condition of meal, it is safe to
assume that 800 pounds of meal
are the full equivalent to one ton
of cotton seed, therefore, whatever
excess above 800 pounds of
meal the farmer g ets in exchange
for a ton of seed is so much clear
profit to bim in comparison with
using the ton of seed directly a*
a ferti lizer. You can readily see
that by exchanging your seed
with us you realize nearly ,100
per cent on the transaction. *
Bring your seed to us and not
make the mistake of getting:
inferior meal elsewhere in exchange.
.
Char meal is open for inspection.
Samples sent on application.
