The sudden death of Mr John 1 McCullough last Sunday mornng at his home near Taft was a .hock to his friends in town, as ie had been here but a short :ime ago and appeared to be in lis usual health and spirits. He lied about 10 o'clock a m very mexpectedly, as his family did tot know that he was ill. Mr McCullough was a man of nfluence in his community and me of our county's most subitantial citizens. He had a very ugh sense of honor and bore he respect and esteem of all ?bo knew him. Quite unasmming, yet ready to obey the rail of duty at any time with>ut question, he was a type of he country gentleman that has aised oar country to tne proua iminence it has gained and held. Mr McCuliongh was a ruling ilder In Union Presbyterian hurcb, which place he held for birty-four years. He will be aissed in church and social reations, and bis loss in the lome circle is irreparable. His mmediate family are his wife nd nine children, also his two rothers, Messrs S E and W B IcCullougb. Mr McCullough pas buried at Union Presbyteran church on Monday, the funral services being conducted >y Rev J E Mahaffey, in the abence of the regular pastor of Jnion, Rev E E Ervin.
