which were very interesting to
the audience.
On August ifrth, at 8 p. m.,
there will beheld a gold medal
contest in the Baptist church.
Light refresh meirts will be
served in the school house wear

Crops in this section are looking
fine. Mr. John C. Everett and Mr.
J. A. Ferrell have the finest corn
iround here. They worked on the
Williamson plan, and, bv the way,
Mr. Ferrell says that the corn near
the lower bridge that was started on
the Williamson plan has never
got any further than the stnnting
process.
Mr. Editor, I note in the paper
that the largest melon you have
seen weighed 39 pounds. I planted
ibout a quarter of an acre and I
juppose I got over two hundred that
vould weigh over 40 pounds. I
iveighed about 50 and they weighed
irom 40 to 46 pounds, one weighing
52 pounds, and I suppose there were ?
