LEE MEDAL CONTEST, i i1 KINGSTREE GRADED SCHOOL CELEBRATES THE CENTENARY OF RHRFRT F I FF'S KIRTHUAY?MISS MARION GILLAND WINS GOLD MEDAL ! ? On Monday night the Lee Medal Contest was held in the Graded school auditorium. A great deal of interest was manifested in this intellectual rivalry and the eight essays read by the members of the tenth grade were listened to by a large audience. The essays were sketches of the life and character of General Robert E Lee, all of them reflecting studious research and each of them doing credit to its writer. The school entered ] the auditorium according to grades to a march rendered by Miss ] Coles, the music teacher During the intermission several selec j tions were rendered by members of the music classes. The medal, which is given by the trustees of the school, was awarded to Miss Marion Gilland. It is a handsome gold medal, upon which is engraved the bust of General Lee. < Messrs. P H Stoll, J G McCullough and A C Hinds were the i judges. j The medal was presented by P H Stoll, Esq., with graceful and appropriate remarks.
