SHOCKING TBAiitOV
NEAR CENTRAL CHURCH.
^ ?
LITTLE LULA PARNELL ACCIDENTALLY
SHOT FATALLY BY HER BROTHER.
i A shocking and heart-rending
accident occurred Tuesday
morning eight miles east of town
m near Central church, causing
the death of Lula Parnell, the
five-year-old daughter of Mr W
H Parnell, of that section.
The cause of the accident
sppms to liavp hppn that most
deadly weapon of destruction,
the "unloaded" gun.
Mr and Mrs Parnell had le t
home early in the morning to
come to Kings tree, leaving the
children at home. Between 8 and
9 o'clock. Brantford Parnell,
aged nine years, got his single barreled
gun and started out birdshooting.
While be was in the
I- yard his sister, little Lula,
clin\bed upon the grape arbor
and with childish artiessness
called out, "Shoot me, Brantford."
An older brother, Hoyt.
who was in the piazza, heard the
child and cried out to Brantford
% that the gun was loaded, but
the latter thought he said it
was not loaded, and aiming at
the little girl, pulled the trigtrrbnl

which the intestines protruded,

in about ten minutes.
L . The older boy, Hoyt, jyith all

ode to Kiogstree to bring
terrible news to the afflicted
parents and to secure a physiV

could get there the little one's
spirit had passed beyond the

The holiday season is here

"" making their Christmas purchases
we hope the friends of this
newspaper will look carefully
M through our advertising columns
and, other things being equal,
buy from those business houses
who advertise with us. Remember
that it is the patronage of
these progressive and enterpr isjiig
business men that enables
?!^"Vus to furnish the paper to subscribers
at the low price of a
dollar a year. But for the lib-!
era! advertising patronage that j
we are favored with such a j
newspaper as The Record
could not be published for three !
or four times the present sub- j

The Record is a newspaper 1

into the homes of over a I
thousand peopeople here in the j
county, who trade mainly with j

columns of adtertising given us
shows that business men ap

of the class of able, bright and
