J Moultrie Tiuluck left heie
the earl) part of the week on a trip
up in Clarendon and Sumter counties.
He may be away several
days, as he is hunting for a
man who disposed of some property
over which there is a mortgage. lit
will try to locate both the man and
the property.
Mrs Ella F Jones spent some day*
in Charleston.
Mr Laurie R Timmonscamo do a n
from Rocky Mount, X. C., Monday

days.
Dr and Mrs J L Bass of Kingstret
visited here last week.
#
Mr W P Jordau went overtoTimmonsville
Wednesday night of lasl
week and closed a trade for a dwelling
house and lot, preparatory to
moving there the first of the coming
year. Mr Jordan is a good man aud
a spleudld citizen and we all will be
sorry to see him go away. He will
make this move believing it best for
himself and his family and in this
case we sincerely hope he will not be
disappointed.
Mr Dallas L Jones, sometime of
this town, but now holding down
the manager's chair of the Charleston
and Savannah branches of IleckerJoues-Jewell
Milling Co., spent Saturday
in town on his way to visit
relatives at and near his old home.
Mr Jones is deservedly popular where
ever he is know* and all his friends
he~e were glad to see him aud to
know the world is treating him *ell.
Things are exceedingly quiet in
Lake City when we don't "pull off"
at least one fight a week. As a rule
the negroes keep up the record but
whenever necessary, the whites come
in to prevent the loss of our reputation.
Last week two young white
men had a five round bout 011 Main
street, in which, we understand, one
had his features put considerably out
of repair. After all, is not fist fighting
a much better way of settling a
difficulty than shooting 01 cutting?
Our thanks are to Messrs Cunningham
& Dove for an invitation
to visit the Darlington Fall Festival
this week.
Principal J Frank Eppes went
down to Kingstree Saturday to see
Superintendent Cooper 011 business.
Mr B iV Stewart has purchased
from Mr Thomas Milburn his brick making

A Card of Tbanks.
The members of the Ladies'
School Aid Society of Cedar
Swamp are very grateful to
their many friends for their liberal
contribution and also their
presence at the recent hot supper
given for the purpose of
raising funds for the new disdistrict
school building, which
we hope soon to erect.
The proceeds of tjie supper
amounted to $100.26, which has
been deposited in the savings

use or refer to testimonials
in addressing the public,
but the above remark and

made so often in connection
with Scott's Emulsion
that tliev are worthy -oi

infancy to old age Scott's
Emulsion offers a reliable
means of remedying improper

restoring lost flesh

waste. The action of
Scott's Emulsion is no
more of a secret than tha
composition of the EmuF

it does through nourishment?the
