Partial Returns Indicate the Dispensary Voted Out 3 to I. Greenville, November 14.?Twenty of the most important precincts out-of thirty-eight in the county gave the dispensary 307 votes in the election |<Mlay and 738 to prohibition: the city y . included in this count, where the majority was even larger than throughout the cqunty. The vote is exceedingly light, and will be less in the entire county than what the city alone could have polled. There was little interest apparently in the election, no campaign having been made by the v prohibition forces. k Big Feature With the Show. The wonderful array of female performers with the Great Van Amburg Show is one of its strong features. There is no other show in the country which has so many high-class female artists as this show, and the work of those fair ladies ou the flying trapeze and acrobatic and other interesting features has won the the admiration EU. of the thousands where the show has exhibited. While this is only one of the many features presented by this vast-amusement enterprise, it alone is well worth the price of admission. iS' The Van Amburg Show will give two performances in Kingstree 011 Wednesday. Nov. 22, afternoon and evening. Don't miss the grand street parade in ? the forenoon and the free exhibitions 0 on the show grounds immediately after & V' the street parade. As soon as I would have put questions to him that be could not answer he would have got mad, just as Ik; did do. and that would have ended the debate. He likes to tell about the great curse that whiskey has been to the human race. The advocates of the dispensary have nev?*r disputed this, but what we have l>ee'? trying to get the prohibitionists to prove is how prohibition yill decrease thesale or use 01 whiskey, and they have never done It and can't do it. We have had prohibition and we have had the barrooms, and prohibition proved to be worse than the barrooms. To show that closing the dispensary will do no good, the dispensaty was closed at St Stephens for a short while and the people around Gourdins usually get their whiskey at St. Stephens. me u^cui v?a? inning mc ui i GotirJlns tii u tlie express on whiskey ! in one m !i w.;? ll> dollars that he i collected. The merchants j are making money for themselves and the dispensary is making money for the State by sending off for the whis-; key. They tell yon that money would i go to the merchants if the dispensary j was closed. What were the merchants i doing at Gourdiuj to let all that money go outside of the State? They did not! have what thepeople were going to have let the cost and trouble be what it would be. Mr Emile Arrow-smith of Georgetown came up last week to spend some time in town. Mr an.l Mrs C F Koger, of Colleton county, were here last week to attend the Kinder-Carr wedding. It would be a proper and fitting preliminary for the observance of Thanksgiving to vote out the dispensary on the 21st. Eleven out of twelve counties have rolled up big majorities against the dispensary. Now, let Williamsburg join the procession. Mils Mary E Forbes of Baltimore, M?'., is the guest of Mr and Mrs M F Heller, on North Academy street. The occasion of her visit was the Kinder-Carr wedding, at which she was maid of honor.
