The State vs Anthony Vhite, assault and battery with* ^tent to kill. Guilty of simple assault and sentenced to la days on chaingang or Si a tine. Not guilty. EL Hirsch, Esq., represented the defendant, j The State vs Willie Bradham, alias Big Bradham, assault vith intent to ravish. Not guilty. LeRoy Lee, Esq,, represented the defendant. The State vs Epps Snowden, murder. Guilty and sentenced to be hanged, Friday, November 24, 1905. LeRoy Lee, Esq., was counsel for defense and L L Hirsch, Esq., assisted the solicitor in this case. The murder I committed in the above case is fresh in the mind of the public. It occurred Satur lay night, June [J, 1905, at Brunson's X Roads, "when li W is row ii, a negro merchant, was stabbed to deat? in his own store by Epps Snowden, also colored.' The cause of the killing was the price of eight bottles of soda water that Snowden had drank on a wager. In sentencing Snowden Judge Watts made some excellent suggestions to the large crowd of negroes in the court room as to the tendency to fighting and murdering one another at .heir social gatherings The case of the State vs. G. Levi Sauls and R Fleet Epps, assault and battery with intent to kill, the State vsG Levi Sauls, assault and battery with intent to kill, and the State vs Eddie [H C'arsten, assault with intent to kill, were all continued until I the next term of court. I .Judge Watts is a general favorite here both personally and j in his official capacity His i method of procedure in the court room is business-like and practical and stripped of all superfluous red tape. The consequence is that there is no delay in the work of the court, which is concluded in the shortest possible time and the county thus saved j much unnecessary expense. In ' <?nr /minion, there is no more capable judge on the bench than [ Judge Watts. We publish this week quarter* ly statements from the Bank of Kings tree and the Farmers' and .Merchants' Bank of Lake City. Both these institutions make fine showings and are well worthy of the confidence of the public.
