While driving a rake j to which was hitched a mule he ' had occasion to cross a small , ditch about a foot deep over c which was a bridge made of. i poles. The space between the f wheels was wider than the j bridge, and one wheel went off | ^ the edge. Mr Snipes got down J to lift the wheel out when a pole . 1 1 ifroin the bridge flew up and out jl ot its position, striking Mri Snipes a heavy blow just above i the ankle ard breaking both ' i bones of the leg. Dr Scott was i ;soon in attendance on the suffer- j " er and set the broken bones.'( The injury is a severe one, and 1 Mr Snipes, who is an industrious and estimable man, will be con: lined to his bed for some months to come.
