Most of tn>||^\Te present throughout the session and did excellent work. wK This school was under the direc tion of Prof P P Bethea, who is f principal of the grcded school here, and Prof Geo McCntchen, who is of the faculty of the South Carolina college. The course of study for the month j was as follows: Mathematics, pedaVgogy and current events, of which / Mr Bethea had charge; civics, his- ! torv and English, under the direc-' tion of Mr McCutchen. The hospitable town of Kingstiee1 did not fail to Jiuke the teachers feel ; at home, aud all were well pleased with their surroundin s and enter- i taiument. This institute has done great good in two special resjiects. It has been i an inspiration to educational int?rests here, and it h?is put new purposes in the minds of the teachers for better preparation for their work and greater efficiency in teaching. Every county it: the State ought to have its teaching force united in institute work. The teachers ought tfTbe cemented in joint association. One hopeful sign at this summer school was the organization of the teachers into an association. This will help much to awaken interest and should serve as a strong lesson for bringing together the 80 teachers of Williamsburg county in a summon school in 1906.
