C( Instead of fooling away his tl time hunting bears in Colorado ^ His Rooseveltian Majesty might have popularized himself with 01 the Southern cotton gTowers ^ , by chasing a few around the &( purlieus of Wall street. ,b< ________ le rr According to the record kept ^ by the weather bureau the ca frosts of Monday and Tuesday ^ mornings are the latest that in have occurred for eighteen dc years. The area included by J' the killing frost embraces near- n) ly all of the South Atlantic ^ ' States, extending almost to the ^ Gulf of Mexico. D hi With all the sneers and gibes ^ at the Russian Admiral Rojest- at vensky it requires a supreme dc degree of heroism to deliberate- SP ly go. to> battle with an enemy in tbe face of almost certain dis- ^ aster and death. His message en to his sovereign has tne true t* ring: "I will not telegraph again cc before the battle. If I am beat- co Bi en you will learn it through To- ? tb go; if I defeat him I will an- ^ nounce it to you." jQ ^==== jv Marion Parr, the white man condemned for murder in Rich- bi land county, paid the penalty v erf bis crime last Friday. And di on next Friday a negro will be J? ' executed in Clarendon county ^ for the same crime. Ir spite of ^ the strenuous efforts of sickly th sentamentalists the gallows of tree is bearing fruit and human " life promises to become as sacred in South Carolina as in , bj other States, if the good work ^ goes on. w] Along with the rest of the re ar truck-growing section of the Qn State the people of Williams- ro burg have suffered a severe vi back-set in what might be called be an "infant industry" in this county. We like the indomitit tabl# spirit, however, voiced in j the letter of our Cades corres- ^ pondent, when he tells us that wi the truckers, whose beans were killed by the frost, have already ^ sent in their orders for more er: seed to replant their crop. In the lexicon of such people veri- ^ ly there is no such word as fo fail. th i BH KIH. ?: ;;; (Pastors of Charges in William sbury County .. are Invited to Publish in this Column tiier ID Schedule of Appo.ntments Free).
