Farmers Will Decrease Acreage?A

Benson, S. C., Feb. 21:. The
farmers around Benson seem to
be in earnest about the reduction
of the cotton acreage. So far it
Is my experience that the negroes
are better informed as to
the movement, take more intetest
in it, and are more easily organized
than the whites. The
negroes attend the meetings, the
whites will not, and so give us
the trouble of sending a committee
after them for their pladges.
However, all seem solar agreed
to make the proposed reduction.
We farmers of South Carolina
aeed a paper that will give more
space to our business. In a
general way our dailies are
among the best and most conservative
news distributors, but
it seems to me that the Constitution
or the Atlanta Journal

frrmers interests, and Cotton
Growers'Association than three
of our largest newspapers.
I am sorry you did not have a
precinct meeting on the 18th
inst. Kingstree was the meeting
place of the convention that
set apart the 18th as a day for
paecinct organizations. Further,
there is no excuse for lack of
information among the farmers
around Kingstree. They, if anybody,
should know the object of
the organization, and its importance.
You should have set a
good example for the county,

Miss Annie Cade, an aged lady
who has been in feeble health
for some time, died Saturday.
Her remains were interred in

ol attending- a valentine party
at the home of Mr J J M Graham.
There was quite a goodly
number of young people present
who indulged in various
games appropriate to the occasion

when delightful refreshments
were served, after which the

mistress. This feature of the

Every one present expressed
themselves as having
spent a most delightful evening,
