Pursuant to a call issued ;by (
the chairman of the temporary
organization of cottbn ^rowers'
association, which was effected
. on January 14, a meeting was
held in the court house op Monday
for the purpose of forming a
permanent organization, with a
view to regulating the production
of cotton through curtailing
the acreage and the use of
commercial fertilizers. The

most every part of the county
being represented.
When the meeting was called

to order by Chairman Harper a
report was read from Mr R H
Kellehan, the delegate to the
Cotton Growers'Association at
New Orleans. This report was
received very favorably by the
convention and thanks extended
to Mr Kellehan for the full
report made.
It was moved and carried that*
the temporary organization be '
made permanent, with the same
officers, viz: Mr Edwin Harper,
president, and Mr W ENesmith.
secretary and treasurer.
After some discussion the following
motion was unanimously
carried: That twenty-five per
cent reduction be made ot cotton
acreage and of commercial
fertilizers as compared with last
' year.
It was resolved that a permanent
association be formed and
Mr J Davis Carter was elected
county chairman of the same.
The list of precinct delegates
named by Mr Carter appears in
his card. The meeting was well
attended and very enthusiastic
and harmonious. Several ringing
speeches were made and received
with applause. It is
earnestly hoped that some good
may r^ult from what seems to
be a concerted effort on the part
of the farmers.

Mrs Sarah Camelia Lesesne
passed away at ten o'clock -Friday
night after an illness of a
month's durat ion. Mrs Lesesne
was the relict of the lale Sumter
Lesesne. She was sixty-six
,nrears old and leaves four children.
She was a member of the
Williamsburg Presbyterian
church. The funeral services
were held Sunday morning at 11
o'clock at the Williamsburg
cemetery, Rev W B Justus officiating.
