Dr Boyd has at- j tained the highest grade of his corps, and has seen as varied i service, per haps, as any other I r ' officer in the entire naval establisbraent, His last sea duty was fleet medical officer of i the $orth Atlantic station. He j is at present attached to the J naval museum of hygiene, and' medical college, at Washington, where he is engaged in instructing the junior medical officers in ?*?tfthe very important duties of a s .. surgeon afloat. This post-graduate school, bv the way, has ' ' during a very short period, de-j veloped into a potent factor in the naval medical corps; and has already accomplished most gratifying results in fitting assistant surgeons for immediate and useful duty aboard, ship.
