The injunction against the importation
of the South Ameiiean ants
has Ieen removed. The little fellows
have armed and gone to work
on the Texas boll-weevil. They
were meagerly fed for some "days so
that they might he hungry when
turned upon their pi ey. The gov

fierce war on the weevils anil have
kept it np. Tliey also destroy the
Texas red ant. This, it is hoped,
will solve the weevil problem.

Many young women in 'Williamsburg
will read with sorrow of the
death of Dr Samuel Lander, president
of the Williainston Female College..
Numbers of girls from
this county have attended Dr Lander's
unique college, and these
learned not only the knowledge of
looks, lut the higher lessons of
christian wcmanhocd. Dr Lander
was the leader of teachers of women
in. South Carolina, The State and
whole South will sadly miss him.

Some weeks ago hundreds of
papers mere calling Mr Hearst, the
millionaire-editor, all kinds of hard
names. But every daily ycu read
since the Convention is throwing
bouquets at him. And why? Simp!)
because he has shewn that he is a
?ccd Demociatic and loyal party
inan. He has written Judge Parkei
an enthusiastic lettei of congratula
tion aDd assured him that his papers
from New York to Los Angeles,
would support him. And they will,
too.

A piano is a very mystifying in

know nothing of its construction or
the scientific principles involved in
produeiug a perfect piano. This is
the reason so many of our citizen;

about a piano. This class of stutf

but can be bought for almost nothing,
for it is worthless in a musical

Then the retail dealer comes alom
and pushes the cheapest pianos h<

Don't get picked up by these

get it. Y'onr children deserve i

We note that our greatest colleges
use the Stieff piano.
Elizabeth College, Charlotte, uses
it exclusively and has twenty. Converse

uses it exclusively and has thiry-six.
Brenau Conservatory of Music,
Gainsville, Ga., uses it exclusively
and has fifty. The Baptist Fentalt

for thirty-one and will use it exclusively.

knowledge and experience? Reside3,
