wonders that Easter tide has
wrought fill every heart with
rejoicing. The sturdy oaks and
pines with their golden pendants
join the dance quadrille with
crimson-robed maples and sheeny
poplars. The dogwoods
hoist their snowy umbrellas protecting
the blue myosotis from'
all danger of cold. The bright
dog-violets, not a , little vain, j
peep into every brook to behold
their lovely faces, and all nature
smiles and is glad.
Easter services at the Methodist
church was an occasion to
be chronicled in the red letter
column. The children read various
selections on Easter, sang
in exultation the glad story of
resurrection and hope; the choir j
chanted the songs of the ins pi red
and the audience caught their
fire as it shone on their happy
' countenances. -Much credit is
due to Mr J A Atkins who made
the organ swell in rapturous
peals. Mrs Atkins was truly a
help-meet, for she trained the
children while Mr Atkins helped
the choir.
Mr and Mrs G Y Jones visited
friends here last week, Mrs
Jones left Tuesday morning for
Wilmington, where she goes to
join her husband, who is now relief
agent on 2nd division of At-!
lantic Coast Line Railroad.
Mrs R P Boyd and Miss Minnie
Young of Ebenezer attended
the millinery opening of Miss
Leila Byrd.
Miss Edith Poozer, who is
teaching at Wedgefield, S. C.,i
spent Easter here with her parents.
Mr Lorene McCullough met
with an accident last Saturday,
April 2. While at work at At-1
kins' m'll a belt broke and
struck his left limb, bruising it
seriously below the knee.

In Memoriam.
After services in the Kingstree
Baptist Sunday-school on
the 3rd inst a resolution was
unamimously adopted, "That
the school desired to place on
record their high esteem for David
R. Snider, one of their members,
while living, and to , fittingly
express how deeply they
deplore his death." A committee
was appointed to draft suitable
resolutions to his memory
and to prepare a tribute commemorative
of his virtues. In
the discharge of this sad but
pleasing duty the writer scarcely
feels competent to express on
paper the deep sense of loss to
our school, our church and our
community, that we feel..
David was the youngest son
of Dr A M Snider of this place.
He had just passed his twentieth
year; yet these years of
young manhood had been spent
so as to command the highest
esteem and admiration of all
who.knew him, and especially
was he loved and admired by
those who came in daily contact
with his life. He was gentle,
courteous, kind and the very
soul of , honor?a loving and
and obedient son and devoted
brother. He was a consistent
member of Kingstree Baptist
church, and was always ready
and willing to do whatever he
could for the up-building of his
church and the advancement of
the cause of his Lord and Master.
He was secretary of the Sunday-school
at the time of his
death, was always prompt in
his attendance and did all that
he could to make it a success.
It is safe to say that no young
man has passed from life into
eternity in this community for
very many years who has left
behind him more sorrowing
friends.
And . why should we sorrow
and Brieve when we know that
our loss is his gain? Just before
he died he regained consciousness.
The anxious and
loved ones by his bed-side, in
that moment of hope, gave vent
to that feeling, saying, "He is
better." "No," said David, "I
am no better. I am going to
die, and lam going to my Father
in heaven. Won't you all meet
me there?" Oh! What a glorious
and triumphant death. May we
an purpose to meet mm tnere,
and may God help us so to do.

of friends and relatives to mourn
his death. However, we realize
